Do you remember when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? It was an amazing moment in your life! You felt joy, peace, and excitement knowing that Jesus was going to help you through life. Then after a couple weeks go by, you still feel same as you did and you still have the same problems. Jesus didn’t completely take everything right away that was frustrating or sad. Jesus sometimes will allow things to go on in your life so you learn to rely on Him completely. He wants you to fully depend on Him, not earthy things or friends or family (friends and family are ok, but God wants you to go to Him first).

We start to look at people who aren’t living for God, and they seem to have it all together, so we decide to try it their way. That might seem to work for a while, but it will fail because you have taken God out of your equation. Then you realize if you put God back into the situation, it might look the same, but you will feel totally different knowing that He is in control.

Letting God be in control can be so hard, especially when it is new to you, but know that He has a plan for your life! This can also be a hard concept for people who have followed Jesus all their lives, because there are some things that are harder to give to God. God is constantly trying to make us better and more like Him, which means He wants to heal us of things (sins, habits, hurts) that we hold onto…things that are hurting us. Try Jesus wholeheartedly on anything. Remember that His ways are always the best for us, even when they don’t go the way we want. God won’t ever let you down!

This week, give Jesus the one thing you are desperately holding on to. If it takes every hour or minute of the day, keep giving it to Him, and soon Jesus will become the first and only One you want to run to for everything.

But now, God’s Message; the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.  Isaiah 43:1-4 (The Message)
