I am different because of Jesus.
If you have a child in the children’s ministry program, this is what they are learning about in their series. Pastor Phil often quotes this with the children, getting them to repeat the phrase back to him. Can’t you just imagine the joy of God and all of heaven as the tiny voices repeat this over and over? Being a part of the children’s ministry team, I get to see this often and it stirs my heart!
Isn’t that what we want? We want to live differently than the world. We want our lives to reflect the choice we’ve made to put our faith in Jesus Christ. We want our lives to reflect our love for God. I love that my children are learning this concept at an early age! Setting their foundation to live a life that reflects the love of Jesus is my deepest prayer.
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
Ephesians 5:1 NLT
That’s what I want my life to look like. I want to be different. Many days I fail. I just keep getting up and pressing on and asking God for His grace and mercy to help me do better. I want to love better. I want to show more grace because God shows me grace upon grace every day. We do this in our home to be examples to our children. We want them to love God and serve Him, and someday pass that love on to their children and make new disciples…on and on and on for generations!
So what’s holding you back? What in your life is keeping you from living the full life God wants you to live? Is it stress? Does stress cause you to lash out at coworkers, your kids, or family? Ask God to help you in that area. Ask Him to give you peace to treat others more lovingly. Ask God for help, and He will undoubtedly be there!
Live your life today in a way that is pleasing to God. Treat others as you want to be treated. (Matthew 7:12) It will improve your mood, bless your day, and bless the lives of others.
Have a blessed week!
