But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger

and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

Psalms 86:15

My family recently went through a big transition. We added a second child! During my pregnancy I was filled with excitement and could not wait to meet our son, but I also experienced some emotions that I’m sure many other parents experience as well. I had a legitimate concern that I would not be able to love my son in the same way I love my daughter.  I have so much love for that little girl that it was actually difficult for me to comprehend how I could love another child in that same capacity. I couldn’t imagine possibly loving another child so selflessly and unconditionally. I didn’t think my heart had enough room in it! Sure enough, my son was born, and God opened up the space in my heart for him. I have so much passion for these two little beings that it almost overwhelms me. While they are still small and have yet to experience the struggles this life can bring, I can’t possibly fathom that there is anything my children could possibly do to change the love I have for them.

Now stop for a minute and think about the love of God. Sometimes it is challenging for me to wrap my head around God having the same unconditional love for ALL of His children, to an exponentially greater magnitude! He has the same unfailing love for every person on this planet. Scripture tells us there is nothing we could ever do to separate us from the love of God. There are times when we may fail, but God’s love for us doesn’t stop. He never stops chasing us, pursuing us, and covering us with His love and mercy. There is a song by Bethel that I absolutely love and find myself listening to often. The bridge goes like this:

There’s no place I could go Your love won’t find me

No place I could hide that you don’t see

No place I could fall Your love couldn’t catch me

You see it all, You see it all through the eyes of love

I take so much comfort in knowing that the infinite love of my Savior will seek me out in any situation and I will be covered by His grace. Through the daily stumbles of life, God’s love is there, continuously pursuing us. His love for us will never change, and never fail. Have peace in knowing that you can turn to a God who has more love for you than you could ever fathom.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
