Abbey Parsley

All is quiet, the darkness enveloping, surrounding, like a comforting blanket. Husband and littles sleeping sound.

I cry to You.

I tell You all of the feelings of inadequacy that stabbed at me throughout my day. I share the thoughts that are damaging to my heart. I confess how I messed up time and time again. I tell You the pains that others have caused with judgement and criticism. I ask for clarity on the sin that could be causing me that pain. Release me from it. I ask for discernment on how to handle broken relationships and share the pain they cause. I delight in You, the blessings You’ve poured over me that are so undeserving. And yet, You still pour them over me. Over and over again I am blessed. Even after I spit out all of my sin to You, even after I confess my wrongs, You bless me.

And now my heart turns toward those who don’t know You. The ones who post on social media their struggles and their deepest hurts. The ones who don’t know You to pour out to. Seeking something, someone, but feeling inadequate. The ones where the evil darkness, the lies satan is convincing them of, is bearing down on them so much they feel completely broken. They have no one to talk to. While the literal darkness to me is a refuge in You, the proverbial darkness to them is a lonely pit of despair.

And so, I ask, where can I shed Your light? How? How do I show them the love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control offered not only to me, but them too? (Galatians 5:22) How do I tell them when no one else can, You do?

When no one else listens, You do.

When no one else cares, You do.

And when no one else loves, You do infinitely.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us from the love of God that in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39 NIV

But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ

even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved.

Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV

And far many more examples of Your love too great to list…

The greatest example of Your love is felt in the heart. Let them know You. Let them feel You in their hearts so easily that it’s natural. Let them experience Your love by simply seeking, asking, and knocking. And then, they will have all the things they have always needed.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;

knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;

and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8 NIV
