If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

James 1:5

Have you ever needed something but were too afraid to ask for it? I love this verse because I can think of so many examples where I needed God’s wisdom but didn’t ask for it.

I think we all naturally want to be independent and do things on our own. Have you ever had to ask someone for help? Have you ever not been able to complete something on your own, and you are left with no choice but to ask for help? I know I have. I don’t enjoy that feeling. It’s crippling. Asking for help can feel like giving up or it can feel like you are annoying. With other people this may be true, but with God it is different.

Read James 1:5 again. God isn’t like us. He doesn’t get annoyed with us or get bothered by His children when they ask for help. He wants to be gracious with us and to give us His blessings in all ways. Think of the situations in your life where you need supernatural wisdom. Then ask God to give it to you, and He will. He will give you more than you need, and won’t hold it against you when He helps you.
